Don't touch the Apple (A change of religion)

It has happened, after all these years as PC/Windows-user I have decided to convert to MAC. Why?

- It's the standard at my office
- It's actually the standard in my field of business
- The hardware and software looks good
- The new MacBook is supposed to be quite powerful
- I like change, it allways leads to... something
- I was planning to buy a Duo Processor laptop this winter anyway

My only experience with MACs so far in life is that they crash whenever I come near them. It is then ofcourse with mixed emotions I have ordered a MacBook Pro with 1.83 GHz Intel (!) processor, 2 GB ram and 100 GB (7200 rpm) disk. Most of all I'm looking forward to it. While I wait, I hope that all you Apple-prophets will give me some introduction to what you're actually doing with that machine, how you do it, with which software and whatever else I need to be prepared for...

Look forward to some things;
- photo management
- multitasking improvement over Windows
- slick user interface
- calendar
- no-frills for small business
- better 'psycological'/visualized speed

When I did studies at NTNU on psycology of UI's there was a lot of buzz on animating occurences to improve the experience of waiting after pressing the button. On XP you wait, the brain pauses, on OS X, you watch a stupid animation and the brain is kept busy. This addition still is important to how you feel about using the computer, since you don't actually percive the computers need to do some thinking. This is part of the Macintosh religion, -people think it's faster, while it's not. Previously I was all against this, since they didn't seem to solve some issues on OS 9 and in the transition to unix and OS X, but now I can stand by Windows and actually comprehend what this new, modern, slick looking Steve Jesus Jobs is making people rave about. We all love beeing fooled, and why worry if if makes you happy, right ? Just forget this post and you will think your mac is way faster than any PC you will ever meet in the future.

Well if it helps the brain feeling better...What more could you wish for?

Hi - Apple's computers DO rule. Enjoy. And please kindly, briefly explain to me how Actionscripting (my main thing) can be used to produce visuals that actually respond to the sound being played in.. resolume or whatever software? Cheers! Excited.. Sounds extremely fun..!
